Welcome to The Vogel Family Page, which furnishes historical detail beyond the site index, exploring four generations of Vogels in the line of Thomas Vogel of Kirchberg, Germany.

12. Anna Maria Vogel (Reichert) --The mother of Anna Constantia Reichert and wife of Joseph Reichert, Anna Maria was born Nov. 21, 1660 in Murr, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany and died 1709-11 in West Camp, Ulster, New York. She married Joseph Reichert in June 28, 1687 in Kirchberg, Marbach u. Oa, Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg), Germany (Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1985; pp.82-3). This document also records the name of Anna's father as Thoma Vogels. The family immigrated to America in 1709 (Rotterdam list) along with two children, including their daughter, Anna Constantia (U.S. and Canada, Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s). Anna Maria died not long after arriving in New York in 1710, possibly as a result of the terrible conditions aboard the 10 ships bound for NY in 1709/10 in which over 400 died or disease and malnuitrition. Joseph Reichert remarried in 1711 to widow Anna Maria Traver.
The parents of
Anna Maria Vogel were Thomas Vogel and Margaretha Rhatgeber.

13. Thomas Vogel -- The father of Anna Maria Vogel Reichert, Thomas was born in May 1617 and baptised on May 22, 1617 in Kirchberg, Berchtesgadener Land, Bayern, Germany (Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1985). This baptismal document records the names of his parents as Peter and Barabara Vogel. In 1641 he married Margaretha Rhatgeber  (Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1985); the record documents the marriage of Thomas Vogel and Margaretha but does not give her surname. She is thought to be the  daughter of Georius Rhatgeber of Erdmannhausen, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany (died before 1641) and Margaretha (?). Their daughter, Margaretha Vogel, was born in 1620 in Kirchberg, Germany and died in Erdmannhausen, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on Oct. 11, 1687. Thomas Vogel died in Kirchberg (near Berchtesgaden) on Jan. 18, 1664.

14. Peter Vogel --The father of Thomas Vogel, Peter was born Dec.6, 1579 in Kirchberg, A Murr, Neckarkreis, Wurtenburg, Germany. Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500-1971 records the births of several children and names the parents as Hans Peter Vogel and Anna Barbara Vogel. Some Ancestry.com trees list Peter's wife as Anna Barbara Metzgerin (1595-Oct. 8, 1661 of Murr, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany). Peter and Barbara married before 1615 and had at least nine children. Peter died in Germany in 1639. His parents were Thomas and Barbara Vogel of Germany.

15. Thomas Vogel --The father of Peter Vogel, Thomas was born Oct.30, 1540 in Murr, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany and died in Kirchberg in 1584. His wife was named Barbara (Surname unknown;  1543-1582). No further details are known about Thomas or his German parents. Some Ancestry.com  trees list Thomas’ parents as Jerg Vogel (1500-March 15, 1567 of Baden-Württemberg, Germany), son of Jerg Vogel Sr. (1485-1585 of the Netherlands) and Anna Maria Wagner (Sept. 24, 1505-1566 of Sindelfingen, Boblingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany), whose parents were Hans Caspar Wagner (1480-1540) and Barbara Merck (ca. 1490-1562), both  of Sindelfingen, Germany), and while I have found German parish records which document this couple in Thomas'  hometown of Sindelfingen (married in 1536), I have not located records that name Thomas as their son. Therefore Thomas is the earliest confirmed ancestor of this line.
