The parents of Marvin Boone were John Daniel "Jack" Boone (1844-1913) and Nancy Catherine "Kate" Graham (1853-1920) of Erin, Tennessee. According to a 1913 article in the Nashville Banner, J.D. Boone "was prominent in business affairs and ... was operating very successfully a large stock farm east of Erin and a flouring mill and a grist mill at Cumberland City at the time of his death." Jack worked as an engineer on the L&N Railroad for a time and later built a steam-powered rolling mill which he ran in Erin, and thus earned the nickname, "Flour mill Jack." Two of Jack's sons, Robert and Sydney, served as mayors of Erin in the early 1900s. Marvin Boone was born in Erin in 1884 and married Stella Cathey there in 1903 and they had six children before moving in 1922 to Nashville, TN where their youngest child, Sue, was born. A miller by trade, Marvin took over his father’s mill in Erin until it closed. He then moved his family first to Guthrie, KY. for a year, then on to Nashville, where he worked for Riverside Mills (12 years) and at H. G. Hill Co. (25 years) as a mill foreman.

Etheldred Daniel Boon (1837-1873), son of William Boone, and  grandson of Etheldred Boon Sr., who is the earliest confirmed ancestor in our Boone line. Etheldred Sr.'s son, Bird Richard Boon (1817-1856), was Jack Boone's father and the husband of Betty Lee Boone (pictured seated in front in the photo on the left). Etheldred Boon Jr. fought in the Civil War as a private in the 14th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry of the Confederate Army.

The family name appears as "Boon" without an "e" in the records until the  late 1800s.

Marriage records from Houston Co., Tennessee show that Marvin Boone and Stella Cathey were married by R. H. Craig on Oct. 21, 1903.

Wiley joined the Confederate Army in Tennessee in 1861, not long after Levi's birth. He was captured at Ft. Donelson on Feb.16, 1862, and later released but died of dysentery in Chattanooga, TN on Jan. 21,1863. His widow remarried James T. Buckingham.
